The short answer

Louro can record trips automatically after you enable the required permissions. Its current release describes engine-start and switch-off detection with supported OBD-II hardware, and phone location and motion for trips without a scanner.

An automatic trip log should make it easier to review a journey after you park. Setup matters: permissions, the correct vehicle and the hardware connection influence which information can be recorded. Check a short first journey before relying on a longer history.

With an adapter or without one?

With supported OBD-II hardware connected, the released app can use engine activity and VIN information to help identify the drive and vehicle. Without a scanner, it uses the phone’s location and motion instead. These are different sources of information, not a guarantee of identical results in every situation.

The current release also describes recording without a signal and uploading when connectivity returns. That is useful for continuity, but you should still review the recorded journey and check for gaps.

Make the first journey a setup check

Keep driving interactions off the phone. Configure the app while parked and inspect the trip afterward. The listing notes that background location may affect battery life; review the permission choice in the context of how you use the app.

  • Install the current app on a compatible iPhone.
  • Choose whether to enable the requested trip permissions.
  • If using hardware, confirm the supported adapter is connected.
  • Drive normally and review the trip after parking.
  • Check the car, distance and start/end information for anything unexpected.

What if a trip looks wrong?

Review the trip details and your connection/permission settings. Louro’s current release includes a ‘Something wrong with this trip?’ feedback path, which is a useful way to send the team the context needed to investigate. A personal driving history should not be described as a certified tax log without a separate compliance review.

Put it into practice

How to do this in Louro

  1. Add or select your vehicle in Louro, then enable trip-related permissions only if you want automatic recording.
  2. Connect a supported adapter if you want the hardware-assisted trip flow; otherwise use the phone-based flow.
  3. After parking, open the vehicle’s Trips area and check the journey details.
  4. Use the trip feedback option if the recorded information needs investigation.

Automatic recording depends on permissions and the device/vehicle environment. Do not promise every drive is captured perfectly or use the app interactively while driving.
